Strawberry lovers will unite for one of Watsonville's premier outdoor
events at the 13th Annual Monterey Bay Strawberry Festival on August 3rd, 4th
and 5th. This year's festival will be at Ramsay Park Friday, Saturday and
Sunday.
The multi-faceted celebration will serve up a menu of delectable strawberry
delights, non-stop live community entertainment for young and old on stage, gooey contests for berry lovers
of all ages, arts and crafts, a special children's area with strawberry
projects, Strawberry Carnival, and much, much more.
Entertainment Services, is forecasting great weather and another
record-breaking crowd. "We welcomed more than 74,000 people to the
community to not only showcase the Santa Cruz/Monterey strawberry growing
area but the beautiful Pajaro Valley." The Santa Cruz and Monterey
counties growing region is the largest in California. Among the weekend
highlights:
Food: From fresh strawberries to strawberry tamales, you'll be able to
satisfy your strawberry appetite. Other food items available include tacos,
pepper steak sandwiches, Falafels, Greek delicacies, barbecued sandwiches,
pizza, sausage, kettle corn and hot dogs.
Gooey Contest: What would be a strawberry festival without the very popular
gooey contests? Try your luck as eating fresh strawberries, or the strawberry
relay, or better yet, test your strawberry pie eating skills.
